Let me first introduce myself. My name is Nancy Paoletti and I’m a student at Penn State University - Beaver Campus majoring in Communications with a Journalism option. This blog is a project for one of my classes.
I’m not a professional cook or chef and I have never been trained formally in any cooking or chef skills. I do have over 40 years of experience of cooking for a family. My parents started teaching me how to make simple dishes when I was about seven years old. Over the years I’ve made all kinds of meals for my family.
I am not a professional dietitian. I have taken one class in nutrition but I know that doesn’t make me an expert. What this class did give me was an understanding of what is healthy and what is not. Like overloading on fats, sugars, and salts can very unhealthy. In addition, and little did I know, even too much of certain vitamins can be just as dangerous as not enough.
I am going to school to learn how to write well and professionally. Since I like to cook and share what I cook with other people, I thought that a blog about cooking would be fun. I didn’t want just a recipe site; there are a lot of those. What I am aiming for on this blog is communication about food and styles of cooking as well as comparing tastes and ideas. Perhaps I will learn something from one of my readers or they will learn something from me. I’m also hoping that by the end of the semester that I will not stop writing this blog but continue with it as an outside activity and something that will help me into a professional writing or editing career.
